Roscoe, 1994-2009

We lost our Piggy last night. She was 15 years old and a very good girl.

Below is a video from Fire Island in 1998 of her younger (sight-filled) days. Roscoe was only 4 and Charlie was 18 months, swimming and romping with their friend Ethel. We miss them all.

Merry Christmas from Mike & Brent

Happy Holidays - Mike, Brent, Roscoe & Frankie

Frankie is a Shaieb

Frankie is a Yellow Lab… who doesn’t like car rides or swimming. We think it’s because she has an ear thing which makes her get car sick, and hate getting water in her ears. She tries to keep her head way up when she swims which makes her butt sink. We take her swimming every saturday morning to help her elbow, which she had a problem with when she was a puppy. Since she’s not the best swimmer, we find it helps for her to have a life vest and a neck float. So embarrassing! (It kills me, so hilarious – We love her :)

Frankie is Lab??? Nope - she's a Shaieb! Right, Lynn?

I have a theory that “Shaiebs sink” … and Frankie is definitely a Shaieb.

Two Short Films by Cameron Mair

My nephew spent last week with us in New York. Last summer he attended the New York Film Academy tweens program, so this summer we thought it would be fun to make some actual short films. Cameron directed each of the shorts, and I wrote the music. Our good friend Emily Otto even joined us in Washington Square Park very early one morning to star in “Only One Spoon”. Enjoy!

And don’t miss this from the “Special Features” section of the DVD:

Frankie is 2 today

65 pounds instead of 15. Not much else has changed.

Charlie, after a week of Frankie

Today is Frankie’s first birthday (not that we have cake or anything).

This video was taken last March, a week after bringing two-month-old Frankie into the house and clearly shows Charlie’s apprehension. Later, that orange squishy toy would become the “toy of truce”, forging a brief but playful friendship between Frankie and Charlie.

Charlie, 1997-2008

We sadly had to say goodbye to one of our labs this week. Charlie died Thursday night after a sudden onset of restlessness and frequent small seizures, likely caused by a brain tumor. She was 10 years 9 months.

As we sifted through the hundreds of pictures we have of her, we found a few short video clips taken on our digital camera. We’ll be sharing a few of them here on the blog as a tribute to her healthier days. Mike and I — and Roscoe and Frankie — miss her very much.
