If only you could "reward" a cop for not giving you a ticket the same way you get a kid to potty train.
I wish I had a photo of the actual Heart Bracelet. It was one of those from about 1987 - chunky plastic hearts all sort of notched so they interlock, and they are red and yellow and green and stuff. Strung together on some elastic, that's quite the prize for a three-year-old.
So this bracelet had been offered as an incentive to use the "potty chair" and join the ranks of "big girl". Cuz only "big girls" get heart bracelets. Eventually the allure of jewelry won out, and to top the plastic prize, Dad had a nice real gold bracelet waiting too.
Featuring vocals by the gifted and talented Gavin Creel. (And buy his album "GOODTIMENATION". You won't be sorry.)

Ah, now we get to the fun stuff.
Once upon a time, a little girl decided her bangs had gotten too long and took matters into her own hands… with a scissors. This was about 2 months before she was to be the flower girl in our cousin Anne's wedding. Wow was it short. Wow was Mom upset.
Here is proof, and remember, her hair had time to grow out by this point:

I should mention this track has been a consistent favorite with the "3 and under" crowd. I'm not sure if that's a good thing.

This one requires homework. (Did I mention these were an eclectic mix?)
The story goes that naming me with a "br" name was sort-of incidental to the fact that my older brother was already "Bryan". Mom and Dad just liked the name "Brent". Then this baby sister shows up, so naturally we had to continue the naming tradition.
In searching for a name, we canvassed the English language for all words BR before agreeing on a short version of "Sabrina". This track is a tribute to that search. But it doesn't stop there. Decode the poem for a special message to Brina as she comes into her own. Here's the worksheet. First one to post a reply with the correct translation gets a gold star on their forehead.

Mom thought "You guys, you're gonna wear out the carpet" was sassy.
It's actually a Lord Family Classic, right up there with "Keep the overhead down" and "front butt". This track is for all the parental refereeing required with two bratty brothers who pick on their little sister.

It's brina.22 today. A fitting time to post the first two tracks in a series of 6 that comprised our contribution to Mom's 21st birthday present project for her.
She sent dozens of family and friends a blank scrapbook page, with instructions to personalize that page in a way that was meaningful to Brina's first 21 years in their life. Poems, photo collage, whatever…and send it back in time for her to assemble and present on her big day.
So, our page had a CD sleeve attached. In it, a personalized collection of 6 rather eclectic songs inspired by memories growing up with my little sister. Enjoy.
