When we were on our big trip last year we learned that “The Wave” (America’s favorite sports stadium activity) is known to the rest of the English speaking world as “The Mexican Wave”. Even though it was invented either in Seattle or Canada (depending on whose story you believe), it was known only in North America until the whole world saw it during the World Cup in Mexico City in 1986. Hence, the Mexican Wave.
I am trying to think of things that other countries call “American…” that we don’t associate with ourselves. Can you think of any?
