If only you could “reward” a cop for not giving you a ticket the same way you get a kid to potty train.
I wish I had a photo of the actual Heart Bracelet. It was one of those from about 1987 – chunky plastic hearts all sort of notched so they interlock, and they are red and yellow and green and stuff. Strung together on some elastic, that’s quite the prize for a three-year-old.
So this bracelet had been offered as an incentive to use the “potty chair” and join the ranks of “big girl”. Cuz only “big girls” get heart bracelets. Eventually the allure of jewelry won out, and to top the plastic prize, Dad had a nice real gold bracelet waiting too.
